Made an iron door knocker. Still need to connect the knocker to the head. Took a metals castings class and I'm finishing up my ceramics class at Ox-Bow, a nice school/art facility in the woods. Hopefully there'll be an update on the CG side of things soon!

Working some more on my game, LightSwitch. When I finished the project last semester for class I felt like it was a bit rushed towards the end, so I really want to polish it up this semester and add a lot more content (this is part of my 3D independent study).

Some renders. Textures might change and definately the models will be enhanced and more objects will be added to the scenes.

Renders definitely need more work. For some reason global illumination is making the light too soft, but that shouldn't be too hard to fix. When the renders look the way I want them too and all the objects are done, it'll be time to bake them and put them in the game!

Oh, and I'm slowly (painfully slowly) still working on my face rig thing.. Been busy lately on my pencil animation and game (and also being lazy) but here's a render of the hairline.

Not sure if I'm digging the hairline all that much, but it's going to be covered in hair anyway. Might work a little on the eyebrows though. Need to make a normal map to give the eyebrows more volume, and not leave them looking like paint-on brows.

Drawing's been kind of blah for a while, but I'll post anyway. Need to "draw my way out" of this long drawing block.

Been thinking of making that dog-giraffe thing 3D?

Gotta admit I haven't been working on the head lately.. I have the hairline and brows done, but I'll post that soon. But I'm going to rig the face! I'm not going to let this be just another incomplete project..

Texturing the head.. Took me forever to figure out how to do the freckles the way I wanted. Just made something quick in photoshop and voila. Mudbox makes texturing so easy. Might up the contrast to make the freckles more intense.

Need to make my own eye texture. This one's a temp that isn't exactly mine, I'll admit. Just a placeholder.. No stealing!
Need to paint the eyebrows and hairline, then onto the hair. And eventually the face rig (I'm going to include shoulders as well, doing want the head to be too "floaty".

No art (decided not to show what I have so far for my animation and release it in one go later). Trying to get back to my weekend posting schedule. Here's some artsy fartsy photos.

I like the shower curtain at my mom's house. Looks like an ocean.

My portfolio is now posted HERE.
More professional looking than putting all my stuff on this blog for internships to see..

So so close to finishing my animation! (and by animation I mean the 30 seconds I need to continue independent study to complete the WHOLE animation..). Not sure if I want to show it to people before the whole thing is done though. Especially since the first part isn't that exciting (still need to get to where the action is at).

I've been sketching a lot more than usual during break, I love sketching forever in cafes in Tel aviv.
Some of the drawings I liked:

I've been trying to figure out how to make this dragon machine creature thing for my future 3D animation, I think I've got it.. More or less.

Also I painted my bro over break:

So rusty at painting! I want to paint a better portrait next time I visit..
My first class this semester starts in a few hours, history of jazzz.

What the title says. A lot of in progress sort of stuff. I need to upload my sketches and background drawings for my animation and stuff. Too many ideas so little time (which is a good thing, since I've been stuck with virtually no ideas for a while..).

Anyway, I finally finished the low poly version of the girl's head. No more weird ears.

I'm now working on the teeth and mouth interior. Which I have little idea how to make. It's harder than I thought to find a good tutorial on this..

Sneak peak still of the animation I'm working on.. (hand-drawn and then scanned in for color and post compositing..)

I need to post more drawings! Things have been a bit too technical around here lately (blog-wise and out of blog). I've been jotting down a lot of game ideas lately, but don't feel too good about posting them for all to see (though I kind of doubt they'd get stolen really, but who knows). But I have some concept sketches I made for my 3D animation project, will post soon!

Had a real lousy week followed by a pretty good week. My normal mapping issue is solved (it's just easier to transfer normal maps from the high res version to the low res version in Topogun.. as well as displacement).

Made another head in Topogun. First it started out as just a sketch, but I decided to use it as a way to get myself familiar with all the steps and build myself a more efficient pipepline.. it's still a bit incomplete though (hence only half a head and a pointy ear..). I'm going to make the inner part of the mouth too as well as hair and the rest of the body. OH! and especially learn how to make a fancy face rig in maya so I can make some expressions (I'll do another version of the face rig with bones so that I can see it work in Unity). Think I'll use it for my 3D independent study eventually, why not.

I LOVE diffuse specular.

Went back to the old guy I made a while ago and fixed his normal map issue too. Now he looks all nice and complicated.

Also been learning how to make realistic eyes.. Still learning.. This is the full high res version, no normal map (that's the way the ear is really supposed to look, too). Need to paint her too, planning to paint tons of freckles..).

Well. That's all for this week. Glad I could actually post something this time. Still working on that animation. I'll post that too (it's an ongoing project, so I'll be only posting a segment). Till next time.

There's some flu going around Tel-Aviv and I caught it. After not being sick for like a year or two : / . A bit off schedule in terms of posting (even though this blog is more of a personal log to keep on eye on my projects than anything).

Been working on my animation lately, though I want to post some of it when I have more done. I've been learning/playing around with scripting in Unity. I actually understand now, which seems like a miracle to me since I've had issues learning on my own. Really glad I had that class (Experimental Games) that taught me exactly what I wanted to learn.. I'm learning the basics of making buttons and stuff like that (GUI).

Here's screenshots of sandboxes I've been playing around in:

I wanted to create a "forest at sunset" scene with dramatic shadows. But I don't have the pro version of Unity (which allows you to have realtime shadows..) so I put a texture on the light to create an illusion.. Works pretty well I guess.

An earlier sandbox where I played around with normal maps and different materials. I attached a light to a ball I could throw around.

I also figure out  a way of creating a super simple character customization system without having to use asset packages (which you also need Unity pro for..). Basically I can press different numbers on my keyboard and different items would show up on the character I'm walking around with. No screenshot though, but I'll post something when...I put something more decent together.

Nothing to post this week, busy packing and stuff. Finally back in Tel-Aviv! Feels like I'm not really on vacation, it's weird (probably because I still have one more project to finish... to turn that incomplete credit into a complete. D'oh!).

Some inspiring videos below. The top one, Between Bears, is by an Israeli guy. It makes me happy when I see a nice animation like that coming from Israel.
